WE WORSHIP IN MULTIPLE LANGUAGES!

If your first language is not English, you have found a home among us. We are not a group of churches that just speak English or train leaders in English. We have Christians who worship in 12 different languages, partnering with Christians who worship in 200+ languages globally. We all participate in the Nazarene movement here in the Greater Chicago area. We are an inter-connected family of believers organized into six regions in 164 world areas, who worship in more than 212 languages globally. We are planning to launch mission points and Bible studies all across Chicago in many of these same languages. We would welcome the opportunity to have you participate, and even facilitate one in your neighborhood. There is a place for you to connect among us. We have partnered with MULTIPLYNAZ for the resourcing and support of starting our mission points, small groups and Bible studies in multiple languages. Through our partnerships within the USA/Canada Region, we are now networked with over 1,300 multi-cultural churches worshipping and training in multiple languages. LANGUAGES IN GREATER CHICAGO

There are about 5.7 million people in the greater Chicago area that speak English. Additionally, the most common languages spoken in homes around Chicago are Spanish, Polish, Arabic, Tagalog, and Chinese. This is due to the various cultures spread throughout Chicago including those of European, Latin American, African American, and Asian decent. The presence of these varying nationalities creates the beauty of our multi-cultural environment! Click here to scroll across Chicago’s neighborhoods to see the primary locations of these five languages.

More than 35% of the population of Chicago speaks a language other than English at home. Putting your cursor on the specific language in this site allows you to view the number of specific language speakers. The most common non-English language is Spanish, clocking in at approximately 1.4 million speakers, which far outweighs the other top languages. Chicago’s non-English speaking population is greater than that of the national average for urban areas.

Many of our non-English speakers live in vibrant communities throughout the Greater Chicago area. In general, neighborhoods outside of the Loop, have a higher proportion of non-English speakers. When we look for ESL (English as a Second Language) speakers, the far north and northwest sides of Chicago have a great deal of linguistic diversity, with Belmont Cragin having a high number of non-native speakers, and West Ridge a breadth of languages. In the far south side, on the other hand, almost everyone shares English as their primary language.

Chicago is really diverse. There are 110 different languages now spoken within the Chicago School District. Our District Leadership Team is committed to providing a mission point, small group or Bible study in every language we can. A list of the languages we aim to provide ministry connection in is listed below.
