District Superintendent
Rev. Scott Whalen assumed the role of district superintendent in 2024. He served as the assistant district superintendent and district secretary from 2017-2024.
Prior to his tenure on the Chicago Central District, Scott served in various capacities in several Nazarene churches. He served as the music and administrative pastor at Highland First Church of the Nazarene in Highland, Indiana, then as the executive pastor at Sterling First Church of the Nazarene in Sterling, Illinois, and finally as the associate pastor at Peoria First Church of the Nazarene in Peoria, Illinois.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Science in Church Music from Olivet Nazarene University, earned in 2004, and completed a Master of Ministry from Olivet in 2015. He is deeply invested in leadership development and proficient in systems management within the local church, both in pastoral and lay leadership capacities. He is passionate about helping pastors lean into their giftings, and resourcing them with ways to further the Kingdom through their local church. He is also an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Scott is married to Anne (Wadsworth) and is a devoted father to Ellie, Averie, and Jacoby. The Whalen family resides in Bourbonnais, IL.
ASSISTANT DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT
Rev. Don Wilson has been a familiar face on the Chicago Central District for almost 20 years. He has served the district through his involvement in the Mission Strategy Team, the District Church Properties Board, and the District Advisory Board. He assumed the role of assistant district superintendent in 2024 and continues to serve as the lead pastor of Crossroads Church of the Nazarene. He believes that in order for one to lead well, they must first learn how to serve well, and he is committed to serving the pastors, laity, and churches on the Chicago Central District.
He has worked in the international missions community through his work with ReachAVillage.org and Bible League Canada, which provides bibles, church planter training, and resources to parts of the world that have yet to be reached with the Gospel message.
His business acumen has been developed through 30 plus years of experience in the service sector supporting businesses like Xerox, General Motors, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Jones Lang LaSalle & Children’s Memorial Hospital, as well as starting his own real estate brokerage company.
Don is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University, earning a Master’s degree in Pastoral Leadership in 2020. He is a gifted communicator & teacher who loves to mentor college-age youth. His hobbies include fishing and making great bar-b-que. He and his wife, Yvonne, are trained & experienced marriage mentors, and they have four children: Mason, Sydnie, Grant, and Christina.
